We use 3 Swiss Conveyorised Flatbed Cutting Systems to provide a cost and time efficient production process. The machines are capable of working with roll or sheet materials, (Non Metallic) and combined with a powerful nesting Software System achieve high yields especially in roll formats.

Cutting Capability & Tooling

Cutting by Static or Oscillating Knife Tooling, has Tangential 3 Axis control to ensure true geometry is cut. Blades can be accurately set to multiple depths (on the same job). Various blade profiles are available to suit materials and minimize overcut etc.

A general rule for best results is the material thickness dictates the smallest radius possible to cut. Otherwise blade deflection during the cutting process spoils finished edge. Unlimited Geometry can be cut by Machine & Software, this includes perforations, sprocket or notch details.

Multiple laminated layers can be worked on (by depth control); also using 2 knife tool stations adds further capability for special applications.

Cutting Tools

Static Blades cater for most rigid materials and have capacity to cut thin materials i.e: 0.1mm up to approx 2.0mm solid PVC / Polypropylene. Oscillating Knives with an operation of 10k cycles per minute have capacity to cut non stable materials such as Foam / Felt and Corrugated constructed materials. Also available is a Rotary powered cutting Wheel operating at 20k RPM and has capacity to cut thin materials such as flexible PVC and Rubber.

Other tooling adaptors include creasing heads which cater for soft or hard materials and use a range of different profiles to achieve a production Crease.

Plotting Tool

The third tool works alongside the cutting process, and can be used for part marking (alphanumeric symbols) also the addition of hidden details such as seams or fold lines can be added. Special Pens are also available to mark on various materials (i.e. Silver markers for black /dark media).

Other Machine Features

Other features include In-Line feeding and laminating for adhesive products, typically to a release liner (2 Ply). Capacity to laminate up to 1000mm width, In-Line and cut parts in one process.

Software System & Features

To input any design for the machine requires either a Technical Drawing or an example of the component to be produced. In the case of a template or pattern, the System supports a Flat bed digitizer which can trace the profile accurately but generating proper lines & Arcs suitable for the machine's output.

The Digitizer is linked to a powerful CAD/CAM System and has a comprehensive drawing tool library. This also has full control of the tooling output and ensures optimum performance (Speed / Cycle times). These features also order cutting direction as required.

Any Digital data supplied can be imported directly into the CAD / CAM System. The Following Formats are available:

  • DXF (Data Exchange Format)
  • DWG Drawing files (AutoCAD)
  • EPS: (Encapsulated Postscript)
  • AI: (Adobe Illustrator)
  • IGES: (Initial Graphics Exchange Spec')
  • PDF: (Adobe Acrobat)
  • CFF2 (Common File Format V2)

All above Graphics File Types (AI, EPS, and PDF) must be in Illustrator V8 Format.

Software System
